Vang Church Outreach - Guatemala

Vang Church reaches out to help others less fortunate in a number of ways. One of our projects is to financially support a Teachers College in Cunen Guatemala.

The project was a dream conceived by a group of Mayan Indians many years ago. At their own expense they advanced their University education until they were qualified to train future teachers. For six years they worked in borrowed and sometimes ramshackle accommodations graduating as many as 50 teachers per year.

The college is bilingual with Spanish and Mayan languages as working idioms. The college facility is a 2-story concrete-block and steel structure costing $250,000. It was inaugurated in 2008, and consists of 15 classrooms, a beautiful entrance, a spacious staircase and corridors. stucco walls inside and out and tile floors.

Ron Fengstad, the Director of Vang Outreach attended the inauguration ceremonies. Vang was one of the largest donors to this worthy project. We have contributed approximately $35,000 towards the facility and another $20,000 for furniture, equipment and extra land, plus bursaries to 3 graduates for advanced university education.. For more information about this project please contact Ron Fengstad at (780) 387-4530 or Pastor Louis Morin at (780) 352-7177
